What’s Clean
At the Cafe at East End Food Co-op, organic and local ingredients are the mainstay. Over 85 organic ingredients are used and their made-to-order juices are 100% organic, while the smoothies are mostly organic. The coffee is organic and most of the fresh items in the salad bar are as well. The amount of organic ingredients in the soups and entrees at the hot bar varies, ask for more specifics.
What’s Offered
Coffee & teas, along with espresso, lattes, iced coffee, matcha, and hot chocolate are offered. Nine different fresh juices adorn the menu, such as Steel City Sunset and Ginger Wabbit. You’ll also find several potent shots to choose from and over 15 frozen smoothies. There’s a cold and hot bar, but we visited during Covid and unfortunately, this section was not operating at that time. When operating, they provide an extensive salad bar and soup bar that utilizes over 85 organic ingredients. You’ll also find a few entrees at the hot bar.
What I Ordered
I ordered a Latte and a Raspberry Beret Smoothie. The fair trade & organic coffee, #19 bold latte, was just that, bold and smooth. With ingredients of frozen raspberries, bananas, apple juice, and rice milk, the smoothie was refreshing and thick.
The Vibe
The cafe area is located at the rear of the Co-op; it’s clean and simple with a small dine-in area that was closed due to Covid during our visit.
The Takeaway
East End Food Co-op is one of the best clean food grocers to date. They offer an abundance of clean and organic food options, many of which are locally sourced. The cafe is nothing fancy, yet continues with the Co-op’s clean food, local, and sustainability philosophies. The menu offerings are reasonably priced as well. Whether you’re in the mood for freshly brewed coffee or teas, frozen smoothies, made to order juices, soup, or salad, rest assured East End Food Co-op has got your clean food back.
