What’s Clean
At Southern Squeeze, everything is organic, Gluten-Free, soy-free, and plant-based (except for the honey). Most of the food is raw as well. The house-made vegan treats are also free of refined sugar. The menu identifies foods that contain nuts, honey, oil, and also specifies what is raw.
What’s Served
Southern Squeeze serves breakfast all day in the form of bowls, toasts, and waffles. For lunch, you’ll find salads, bowls, soups, and small plates. Always available are smoothies, blended fruit bowls, kombucha on tap, wellness lattes, and coffee made every which way. Vegan pastries and treats at the display case will tease your tastebuds such as the vegan donut called Matcha Pro-Nut as well as Cookie Dough Bites. Cold-pressed juices, small bites, and lots of chocolate are available in the grab & go case. They also provide juice cleanse packages.
What I Ordered
I ordered the Standard Waffle and a Mayan Hot Chocolate. At first sight, I have to say I wasn’t expecting much from this waffle in the taste department but I soon discovered that I was indeed incorrect. The shape was similar to a traditional waffle, but that’s where the similarities stopped. Made with oat flour, flax, almond meal, and coconut sugar, this vegan waffle was oddly delicious. So good in fact that the side of maple syrup was barely needed. The melting coconut butter worked atop this firm on the outside yet doughy on the inside organic waffle. Rich with a velvety chocolate consistency and very little sweetener, the Hot Chocolate was dreamy as well.
The Vibe
Although we haven’t yet made it to their new location in downtown Chattanooga, the images we have seen suggest it’s a newly constructed space with warm tones, lots of greenery and natural light.
The Takeaway
Just WOW! High quality in every category, Southern Squeeze is a clean eaters haven. It doesn’t get much better than this, Chattanooga peeps you are incredibly lucky! If you’re anywhere near Chattanooga, stop by and show them some love.
