What’s Clean
At Southern Squeeze, everything is organic, Gluten-Free, soy-free, and plant-based, except for a little honey here and there. Most of the food served is raw as well. The house-made vegan treats are also soy-free and free of refined sugar. The menu identifies which items contain nuts, honey, oil, and what is raw.
What’s Served
Southern Squeeze serves breakfast and lunch. The menu offers smoothies, blended fruit bowls, kombucha on tap, wellness lattes, and coffee made every which way. Vegan baked and non-baked treats will tempt you at the display case, such as Blueberry Crumble, Vegan Donuts named Pro-Nuts, and Cookie Dough Bites. Cold-pressed juices (in glass bottles, yay), chocolate, and small bites are available in the grab & go case. Breakfast is served all day and includes bowls, toasts, and waffles. The lunch menu offers salads, bowls, soups, and small plates. They also provide 3 different juice cleanse packages.
What I Ordered
I ordered a Mayan Hot Chocolate and the Standard Organic Waffle. I have to say, my first thoughts when the waffle was brought to my table were…oh my, this is going to taste like a dry heavy brick. Boy, was I wrong and you’d think by now I would know not to judge, but I digress. Other than its shape, this waffle was nothing like a traditional waffle, but it was so darn tasty. Topped with melting coconut butter and a side of maple syrup, this firm on the outside yet doughy on the inside waffle was oddly delicious. So much so, that I barely needed any maple syrup. The Mayan Hot Chocolate was another clear winner, rich with a velvety chocolate flavor and very little sweetener, if any.
The Vibe
Soft music sets the tone in this newly remodeled space with modern decor and a lovely outdoor patio. A combination of high tops, standard tables, and bench seating adorn the indoor scene while many tables under canopy await you on the patio.
The Takeaway
Just WOW! High quality in every category, Southern Squeeze is a true gift and a clean eaters dream. You must pay them a visit if you’re anywhere near Chattanooga and if you’re lucky enough to live close by, thank your lucky stars. Extremely clean with so much attention to detail in their recipes and creations, makes for some pretty fantastic nourishing eats!
