What’s Offered
Half of the fish selection is local, fresh and wild-caught via spearfishing. Most of the fish is speared in the Ponce area off the East Coast of FL. In addition, they carry a few wild-caught fish varieties from the keys and gulf. A few non-local selections are previously frozen, like the Chilean Sea Bass that is flown in from Chile. The trout, tilapia, and Scottish salmon are responsibly farmed. Lighthouse Seafood also offers many different varieties of wild-caught shrimp which is previously frozen on the boat, fresh scallops, mussels, and clams, depending on the season. They carry oysters raised sustainably from the gulf in the cooler months. Also, you’ll find many seafood-related spices, batters, and marinades to choose from. They also offer several house-made seafood salads.
The Takeaway
Lighthouse Seafood has a nice selection of wild-caught fresh fish and shellfish. I’ve purchased a lot of seafood from this location through the years and I’ve never been disappointed. The owner is very conscientious about the sourcing, quality, and sustainability of the seafood he provides. They are very transparent about their sourcing, so feel free to ask for more specifics. New as of March 2020, Lighthouse Seafood has expanded its space and is now the proud proprietor of an in house Cafe…cooking up all that fresh seafood and more.
