What’s Offered
Half of their fish selection is local, fresh and wild-caught via spearfishing. Most of the fish is speared in the Ponce area off the East Coast of FL. In addition, they carry a few wild-caught fish varieties from the keys and gulf. A few selections are previously frozen, like the Chilean Sea Bass that is flown in from Chile. The trout, tilapia, and Scottish salmon are responsibly farmed. Lighthouse Seafood also offers many different varieties of wild-caught shrimp which is previously frozen on the boat, fresh scallops, mussels, and clams, depending on the season. The oysters are raised sustainably in the gulf during the cooler months. There’s a live lobster tank and this location serves more fish such as Haddock than their Lk Mary location. Seafood related spices, batters and marinades are available as well as house-made seafood salads.
The Takeaway
Family-owned Lighthouse Seafood has a great selection of wild-caught fresh fish and shellfish. I’ve purchased a lot of seafood from their Lake Mary location through the years and I’ve never had a complaint. The owner is very conscientious about the quality, sourcing, and sustainability of the seafood he provides.
