The huge selection of 100% organic produce is the show stopper at French Broad Food Co-op, an Asheville icon for decades. Much of the produce is sourced locally when in season. A nice selection of organic bread varieties from local bakeries are also available, as are several gluten-free bread choices. A limited selection of local grass-fed beef, grass-fed lamb, venison, bison, and even sausages made with clean pasture-raised pork from Hickory Nut Gap Farm adorn the refrigerated section. They carry local grass-fed dairy and goat milks, as well as several nut and oat milks. A large freezer section is packed with clean and organic frozen veggies, fruits, bread, vegan options, dairy and non-dairy ice creams, and more. Clean bath and personal products, as well as supplements and health foods are also available. You’ll also find a large selection of kombucha varieties, teas, gingers beers, and specialty sodas.
What a fantastic market in downtown Asheville. The organic fresh produce offerings are second to none, and I love their commitment to supporting local farmers, especially those who grow foods organically. Organic and clean foods can be found in every aisle, on every shelf. Kudos to French Broad Food Co-op for being the local leader in providing us clean food options.
