What’s Clean
At Blue Mountain Bakery and Cafe, approximately 85% of the ingredients used are organic including the flours, sugar, dairy and nut milks, eggs, butter, deli meats, GF rice wrap, sausage, rice and beans, coffee, granola, yogurt, produce and more. Many gluten-free and vegan options are available as well. All ingredients are free of artificial colors or preservatives, hydrogenated fats, high fructose corn syrup, chemicals, or non-food substances. Local sourcing is also a priority.
What’s Served
Blue Mountain’s breakfast menu includes burrito wraps and bowls, scones, a frittata of the day, quiche, and granola. The lunch menu offers wraps, burritos, soup and grain bowls. Additionally, this is a full-fledged bakery. Everything from scones, cinnamon rolls, cakes, pies, muffins, bread, cookies, and treats are baked in house.
What I Ordered
I ordered a Veggie Burrito on a gluten-free Rice Tortilla, a Hot Chocolate made with Organic Almond Milk, and a fresh-baked GF Blueberry Muffin. I witnessed the stovetop making of the hot chocolate and it was as good as any I’ve ever had; high quality, creamy, and closely resembling drinking chocolate. The Veggie Burrito was sincerely out of this world. The GF rice tortilla was warmed and browned to perfection in an iron skillet. The veggie medley was rich with beans, moist and warm. The crispness of the tortilla and warm produce and bean ingredients joined together like a perfect marriage, simply amazing! The muffin was a hit as well; no loss in taste or texture for this delish GF treat. On my next visit, I ordered the Turkey Wrap, again top-notch in the clean and taste department.
The Vibe
Blue Mountain Bakery & Cafe is close to the beach and they share the building with a bike rental shop and one of the best “clean” grocery stores in the panhandle called ‘For The Health Of It.” The cafe itself is in a tiny space but outdoor seating availability is plentiful. The decor exudes a beachy coastal feel in a traditional bakery space.
The Takeaway
Amazing, amazing, amazing! Love their commitment to organic, local and sustainable. Blue Mountain Bakery & Cafe would be a daily stop if I lived near here, I might have to vacation in Santa Rosa Beach soon. Can’t stop thinking (and drooling) about that Veggie Burrito. Blue Mountain Bakery & Cafe is a must stop when in town!
