What’s Clean
Approximately 75% of all ingredients used at Lila are organic and 99% of the produce is certified organic or organically grown. The chicken is organic and the buffalo and beef are grass fed, and extra points earned for their double filtered water. Lila does not use white flour or sugar, but some of their flours are not organic. They also offer organic wine choices. All of the pastries and breads are baked in house and the bacon, hash, and sausage are cured in house as well. Mostly vegan with lots of gluten free options.
What’s Served
Lila is a very veggie focused restaurant serving American fare. However, they offer clean meats such as bison and lamb as well as duck and seafood dishes. Plates such as Buckwheat, Oat and Flaxseed Waffles, the Grilled Avocado-Farro Bowl, and Grilled Spanish Octopus are some of the mouth-watering dishes on the menu. Breakfast is served from 8am-2:30pm, lunch 11am-4pm, and dinner from 4pm-10pm.
What I Ordered
I ordered the Eggs Benedict on house baked Paleo Bread with a side of greens, so delicious..and clean…I ate every morsel! The Paleo Bread was moist, flavorful and a-m-a-z-i-n-g. I certainly didn’t feel like I was sacrificing anything, quite the contrary! So good in fact, I ordered several to take on the road with me, good stuff! On a recent visit, my son ordered the Brioche French Toast and the Paleo Porridge. The Porridge was rustic, hearty and a little on the plain side, certainly not creamy or sweet like traditional oats. But, then again there’s nothing traditional about their Porridge and it certainly doesn’t contain any oats. In contrast, the French Toast was moist to the point of almost melting in my mouth and full of flavor. Adorned with freshly cut organic fruits, Lila’s Brioche French Toast was the table favorite, outstanding in every way.
The Vibe
Located in the lovely downtown area of Sarasota, Lila’s atmosphere reflects a mixture of modern bistro and bakery.
The Takeaway
Lila is a chef-driven restaurant where the food, taste, and quality surely reflect that. Definitely a contender for a spot on the “Top 20 Clean Foodie Restaurant’s in FL” list! Also known as Lila srq, which is the Sarasota airport code. Reservations are recommended; this is a busy eatery…with good reason.
