What’s Clean
The kitchen claims the average organic presence is 85% of all produce, ask for more specifics. This is not a scratch kitchen and Darbster Bistro uses soy gardein as a protein that is NOT organic. They do however offer a few organic tempeh dishes. Daiya cheese is used which is also not organic. Some of the beers and wines are gluten-free or organic, as are some of the teas.
What’s Served
Darbster Bistro serves sandwiches, sides, salads, raw entrees, and warm entrees, with a separate wine, tea, and beer menu as well. Brunch is served on the weekends offering plant-based breakfast fare.
What I Ordered
I ordered the Nachos which were just…meh. The dish did not taste or look like fresh ingredients were used. The dishes passing by from the kitchen did not look all that mouth-watering either.
The Vibe
They provide a great atmosphere; a bit rustic with a lovely outdoor seating area perched next to the waterway.
The Takeaway
Darbster Bistro is a non-profit plant-based restaurant serving dinner daily and brunch on the weekends. After reading about the restaurant online, I was really looking forward to reviewing Darbster Bistro. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the quality and lack of fresh ingredients. On-site parking is limited, however, street parking is available.
