What’s Clean
The Beef is 100% grass-fed and the Chicken is organically raised but not certified organic. The eggs are organic and some of the seafood is wild-caught, ask for more specifics. For the most part, the produce on EWG’s Dirty Dozen list dictates what produce is organic. Several of the wine, cider, and beer selections are organic as well. Many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices are offered.
What’s Served
The menu offers a nice selection of veggie-based starters such as Jackfruit Lettuce Wraps, Edamame Dumplings, and charred Cauliflower. Six different salad and bowl options, a few pizzas, a varied list of entrees, and several desserts round out the menu. You’ll also find wine every which way, beer, seltzers, and craft cocktails.
What I Ordered
Tonight I ordered the Grilled Chicken Avocado Wrap on house pita bread. This turned out to be one of the better entrees I’ve sampled at any True Food Kitchen to date. The wrap was loaded with big cuts of chicken along with shredded lettuce, crunchy slices of crisp cucumber, and a nice smear of creamy hummus. Dollops of fresh mozzarella and a light and refreshing lemon oregano vinaigrette proved to be a nice combo of ingredients. A great wrap, but surprisingly, there wasn’t much avocado, more would have been favored. Accompanying the wrap was a chopped kale side salad with a strong lemon taste that caused a pucker or two. The sweet potato hashbrowns were warm, tender, and enjoyable.
The Vibe
True Food Kitchen in Alpharetta GA is located in the trendy Avalon Shopping Center. Alpharetta’s restaurant is a bit smaller than the majority of other True Food Kitchens across the US, but certainly large enough. With modern decor and lighting, the signature look and feel is always welcoming. The chic bar area and clear views of the open kitchen set the tone for this inviting space. Patio dining with sun cover is available outdoors under table umbrellas.
The Takeaway
True Food Kitchen does a great job of offering so many vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free menu choices. Although not totally clean, there are plenty of clean menu options to choose from. The chic surroundings with earthy green undertones and open kitchen views create a wonderful atmosphere. Oh, and the craft cocktails are pretty darn special too.
