At Cocha, just about everything on the menu is clean. Most of the ingredients are sourced locally and are organically grown or certified. The beef is 100% grass fed, the seafood is wild caught, and the poultry is organic.
What’s Served
The lunch menu includes salads, soups, sandwiches and plates such as roasted duck, tacos, stir fried noodles and the catch of the day. For dinner, you’ll find small bites and veggies such as Yucca Fries & Green Harissa, Pink Lady Pea Hummus, and Caribbean Jerk Spiced Wings. Entrees include Thai Curried Mussels, Roasted Rack of Lamb, and Grilled Quail Salad. Alkaline water is their water of choice, thank you Cocha! Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options are available. Cocha has a full bar and extensive wine list. Happy Hour is 3-6PM every day except for Tuesdays, their only closed day. Brunch is served on the weekends.
What I Ordered
I ordered the business lunch which offers a choice of soup, salad, and a half sandwich. Let’s start with the soup…far from your everyday veggie soup, my friends. A bowl of pure indulgence, the soup was made from a base of ground rice and squash, with kohlrabi and carrots throughout then topped with candied apples, pinch me, please. The Chicken Monte Christo Sandwich was superb; the spices and flavor of the tender and moist chicken were something out of a dream. My guest ordered the Arepa made with Jackfruit. The Arepas had just enough crispness on the outside which made them light, airy and irresistible. The Jackfruit was a spot on replica of pulled pork and crazy good. Since our meal was so delicious, we couldn’t resist ordering dessert. The Dark Chocolate Panna Cotta, infused with cayenne and orange zest, was calling our name. Wow, the creamy and chocolatey dessert was over the top with the perfect amount of heat that hit us a few seconds later.
The Vibe
Cocha is a casual space with whitewashed brick walls, wood floors, and dark wood walls…think industrial chic. A good sized bar sits along the left of the main dining area. An open view of the kitchen and larger table settings are located in the rear room of the restaurant. Outdoor seating is coming soon.
The Takeaway
The dining experience at Cocha left me speechless! What a pleasant surprise it was to find this mostly organic restaurant in Baton Rouge with superb tasting food. The ambiance, decor, food and staff were all amazing. Without a doubt, Cocha is a Clean Foodie top 5 pick in all of Louisiana!
