What’s Clean

The coffee and flour are organic as well as 95% of all ingredients used in their baked goods. The lamb and chicken are organic and they are currently working on acquiring organic pork as well. Most of the produce is also organic and locally sourced during the season. The milk is not organic but is rBGH free and sourced from a local dairy.

What’s Offered

In addition to yummy organic coffee, Magpie Cafe serves up a delicious assortment of lunch, brunch and evening specials as well as mostly organic and house made baked goods. Their ever-changing menu includes paninis, salads, toasts, salads and much more. The specials looked divine, check out their social media pages for more photos of the amazing food they crank out of their kitchen. If you’re in a hurry, they have a large assortment of grab & go items.

What I Ordered

Unfortunately, I arrived a bit late and missed the daily specials. I ordered Organic coffee and some baked goods from the grab & go area. All were divine. I’ll be arriving earlier next time to ensure I get to sample some of the menu items before they are sold out.

The Vibe

Magpie Cafe’s downtown location lends quite a different vibe than its Perkins Overpass location.  It is light, bright, spacious and more of a modern urban feel than their cottage location at Perkins Overpass. They have a lovely retail section offering unique kitchen items along with clean body care products.

The Takeaway

Magpie is a lovely Organic Craft Coffee Bar, but it’s so much more than that. They predominantly source organic and locally. Magpie Cafe often sells out of their daily specials, so the earlier the better. Their food is amazing and a must-stop clean eating choice when in Baton Rouge. Magpie Cafe is a definite top 3 Clean Foodie pick for Baton Rouge LA.
