What’s Clean
At Social southern table + bar, the shrimp are wild caught and the crawfish are from Richard Family Farms. The crawfish are contained in their natural habitat, sheltered from Gulf pollutants and fed bugs and natural food free from GMO’s. The salmon is responsibly farmed in ocean waters and fed food that is non-GMO. Their steaks are 100% grass fed from 44 farms, 5 hours away, however, their burgers are not 100% grass fed or organic. Most of the produce is organically grown and local. The grits and eggs are organic as well. Like the hamburger, the chicken is hormone and antibiotic free, but not organic.
What’s Served
The menus change with the season. The lunch and dinner menu offers sandwiches, steaks, seafood, salads with a southern twist. Breakfast plates such as Granola Crusted French Toast and Corned Beef Benedict and Gumbo Frites are offered. Gluten Free options are more plentiful on the lunch/dinner menu, with vegan options available on both menus. Enjoy Happy Hour from 3-6:30pm, Tuesday-Friday.
What I Ordered
I arrived for Sunday brunch and ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp were large and tender while the grits were fluffy and drenched in the yummy green onion butter sauce. The sauce was tasty with a richness that was not overpowering. Overall, two thumbs up on quality, cleanliness, and taste.
The Vibe
The decor is industrial chic with a horseshoe-shaped bar at the center of the restaurant. TV’s are situated in each corner of the bar, with each broadcasting a different sport, thank you very much.
The Takeaway
Social southern table + bar is one of the cleanest restaurants in Lafayette. The kitchen is very knowledgeable and conscientious regarding the cleanliness of their ingredients. Kudos to you Social southern, many thanks for your efforts.
