What’s Clean

Most of the produce at Red Gravy is clean, local and organically grown. The grits and chicken are organic, and the seafood is wild-caught. The beef is local but we were unable to get a definitive answer as to whether the beef is 100% grass-fed, organic or neither. The eggs are pastured but not organic. Several gluten-free dishes are available…including pancakes:). Most of the menu is scratch-made in house, yes, even the pasta.

What’s Served

Red Gravy serves comfort food with an Italian twist. The menu is extensive and consists of traditional breakfast foods and Italian dishes such as house-made gnocchi, spaghetti & meatballs, paninis, sandwiches, and shrimp and grits make up the bulk of their menu. Breakfast is served all day.

What I Ordered

We ordered Lou’s breakfast. The pancakes were amazing, light, fluffy, delish and made with organic flour. The sausage was mild, moist and not overpowered with spices…a truly yummy traditional breakfast. It should be noted that the photo of the plated food is only a half order, so think double that portion…equals a big breakfast.

The Vibe

Red Gravy is a smaller restaurant with dim lighting, rich colors, and a cozy feel.

The Takeaway

Red Gravy closes at 2 pm daily and serves breakfast and lunch. Typically, there is a line out the door, so be prepared to wait. They do not take reservations and they will not seat you until your entire party is present. As you would expect in the French Quarter, prices are a bit high. Red Gravy serves delicious scratch-made comfort food while incorporating many clean ingredients.
