At Bearcat Cafe, most of the produce is organic as well as the bison and pork. You’ll also find organic Kombucha on the menu. Unfortunately, the chicken and eggs are not organic, and the shrimp is not wild-caught. They offer several vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options as well. As always, ask for more specifics before ordering.
Bearcat serves sandwiches, grain bowls, seafood, pork, chicken and a few vegan plates. Breakfast is served all day with a separate lunch menu, as well as a kid’s menu. Bearcat boasts an extensive list of beverages including coffee served every which way, cold brews, loose teas, and non-dairy milks. In addition to Kombucha, you’ll also find a long list of bottled lemonades and specialty drinks.
What I Ordered
We ordered the Cave Breakfast which consisted of a Paleo Pancake, a Pork Chop and Cauliflower Grits. Everything was outstanding. Believe it or not, the pancake was so good it did not need to be dressed with syrup or butter. The cauliflower grits and arugula salad were delish. The salads’ Asian twist paired nicely with the sweet and savory dressing. The pork chop was cooked perfectly; so tender and moist that it really did melt in our mouths. The chop was lightly seasoned and that’s all it needed because the mouth-watering flavor of the pork itself was the highlight of the dish. Even though this was our 6th restaurant and 6th meal tasting of the day, we cleaned our plates and licked them clean. Wow, what a fantastic and flavorful meal. By the way, the photos are of a single order divided amongst 2 plates.
Bearcat provides a casual vibe with comfy couches, bar seating as well as outdoor seating along the front porch. The open-air kitchen and loft feel create a somewhat modern yet comfortable atmosphere.
Wow…we were both very impressed with the unique menu items and scratch-made high-quality provisions. We loved the presentation and the plates the meal was served on as well. What a nice surprise found in the heart of NOLA. Check out their new location in the CBD on Carondelet St.
