What’s Clean
The majority of the produce is local and organically grown, ask for more specifics. The chicken is organic and the seafood is wild-caught.
What’s Served
The menu at Herbsaint is varied and consists of French and Southern-inspired dishes including lamb, duck, seafood, steak, small plates, soups, sides, and salads. You’ll find a modest beer list and a wine list offering several European wines from small producers using sustainable and organic growing methods. A full bar is also present.
What I Ordered
We ordered the Cornmeal Fried Oysters, Gumbo, and Dirty Rice. The oysters, which were local and wild-caught, were cooked to perfection and super moist. The dirty rice was light and not over-complicated while the gumbo was spot on, classic and made with traditional ingredients.
The Vibe
Herbsaint has a lovely atmosphere with the service bordering on fine dining; it’s a white tablecloth kind of place and reservations are highly recommended, especially for dinner. A gorgeous covered patio is situated in front of the restaurant that provides outdoor seating that is perfect for people watching.
The Takeaway
Taste, presentation, and atmosphere are a step above. Herbsaint offers several clean food choices in the heart of NOLA.
