What’s Clean
At Mandarava Organic Kitchen, all ingredients are organic, except for an occasional tiny ingredient here and there. For the most part, if they can’t find an organic ingredient, they just go without it. Everything is scratch-made and vegan. Gluten-free options are available.
What’s Served
The limited menu offers soup, a daily bowl special, juices made to order, shakes, coffee, and teas. You’ll also find grab & go treats such as house-made cookies, and organic chocolates. The daily bowl specials consist of a grain, a bean, and a veggie or salad.
What I Ordered
I ordered a cup of White Bean Soup, the Kale-Celery-Apple juice, and grabbed an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie from the display case. The soup arrived with sides of Pink Himalayan Salt, Spices, and a piece of Garbanzo Bean Flatbread. The tasty soup was pureed, refreshing, and light without any visual ingredients, and I enjoyed adding the salt and spices to my liking. However, the small piece of flatbread was quite dry. The made to order green juice was also enjoyable, sweetened just enough with the apples. The cookie was moist and satisfying but a bit too sweet or my liking.
The Vibe
Located along a little side street in downtown Newburyport, the inviting dining area boasts natural finishes with lots of sunlight and big windows. A few tables are also available outdoors along the walkway in front of the restaurant.
The Takeaway
Mandarava Organic Kitchen is a small family-owned operation that cares. The menu and hours of operation are limited, but rest assured, the food served is wholesome, clean, and packed with nutrition.
