Just about every ingredient used at Laney & Lu Cafe is certified organic or organically grown. Local sourcing and sustainability are high priorities as well. Organic ingredients include dairy and non-dairy milks, eggs, coffee, tea, and produce. All dairy products are from cows that are grass-fed. Laney & Lu Cafe offers complete transparency regarding the quality and sourcing of its ingredients.
What’s Served
Offering a mix of flavor profiles, Laney & Lu Cafe serves smoothies, smoothie bowls, toasts, warm bowls, salads, and small plates. Small plates include choices such as Jackfruit Tacos, a Mushroom Avo Burger, and Green Gazpacho. A few of the warm bowls offered are the Thai Peanut Noodles and Falafel Mediterranean. You’ll also find organic coffees, teas, and wellness lattes such as Ginger Hibiscus, Iced Almond Brew, and Energy 4 Days.
What I Ordered
During two recent visits, I ordered the Epic Egg Sandwich, Huevos Rancheros, and a Turmeric Latte. Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm! Certainly one of the best Huevos Rancheros ever, the house-made avocado cilantro sauce is what separates it from all others. Two over-easy eggs cooked to perfection atop a bed of spinach and black bean medley, topped with pico, firm avo slices, chopped scallion, and thinly sliced watermelon radish, just wow! Not only was it delish, it was also so beautiful I almost didn’t want to disturb the breathtaking bowl of edible art, check out the photos. The Turmeric Latte was another slam dunk, who would have thought Turmeric could taste so good? Made with a mixture of almond milk, coconut oil, ghee, cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, and of course turmeric. This latte was creamy with a pillowy consistency and complimenting nutritional flavors; healthy without compromising taste – at all! Unfortunately, the Epic Egg Sandwich was a tad on the dry side. The slice of sourdough was a bit too thick for my liking, otherwise, the sandwich was flavorful with a perfectly fried organic egg and delish pesto.
The Vibe
With only a few tables set up inside the tiny cafe, the line is frequently out the door at cutesy Laney & Lu Cafe. Filled with modern New England charm, this is where the locals eat clean and drink organic coffee. Tables are also available outdoors on a brick patio at the rear and side of the cafe.
The Takeaway
Laney & Lu Cafe knocks it out of the park in every category. Sourcing local, clean ingredients, and transforming them into delicious healthy foods while maintaining nutritional integrity is where they shine. Laney & Lu also takes sustainability seriously by supporting local farms who do the same, use eco-friendly materials, and recycling to name a few. Please pay them a visit when anywhere near the Seacoast and enjoy amazing nutritious eats.
