All of the flours used in everything Bracken Mountain Bakery bakes are organic and stoneground. Fresh, often local, and sometimes organic or organically grown produce is used based on the season. All baked goods are made in-house without any artificial ingredients. Vegan options are available.
What’s Offered
Bracken Mountain Bakery offers an array of bread varieties, scones, pastries, cookies, muffins, coffee, tea, and even house-baked dog treats. The breads are European style which tend to have a more robust crusty exterior.
What I Ordered
I’ve visited Bracken Mountain Bakery many times and try to sample something different at each visit. The Apple Turnovers are outstanding! There’s an ever so slight crisp to the exterior that quickly transitions to a soft delectable treat stuffed with tender baked apples that are swarming in a sweet sauce. The scones are pretty special too, as are the French Baguettes. I was a bit disappointed in the cookies, I’ve tried several and found them to be a bit dry for my liking. The doggie treats are pretty popular with the canines as well.
The Vibe
Located in charming downtown Brevard NC, table seating is offered indoors and outdoors on the front sidewalk. The interior is nothing fancy but evokes a local neighborhood feel with checkerboard floors and simple decor.
The Takeaway
Kudos to Bracken Mountain Bakery for using organic flours in everything they make. They care where their ingredients come from and consistently strive for clean and high-quality elements.
