At Flat Rock Village bakery local sourcing is a priority. Most of the ingredients used are organic including all of the flours, eggs, and sugars in the bakery foods. Much of the meats are from local Hickory Nut Gap Farm where all of their meats are pasture-raised, the beef is 100% grass-fed, and the hogs are supplemented with non-GMO grains, if needed. All of the baked goods are made in-house and many gluten-free options are offered, as well as vegetarian choices. The bread and pizzas are baked in a brick oven.
Village Bakery in Flat Rock offers traditional bakery foods & bread, breakfast & lunch. Freshly baked items include cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, many other dessert choices, quiche, and several different bread varieties. Loaves of raisin pecan, sourdough baguette, cranberry walnut, olive rosemary, and lots of other bread varieties usually sell out daily. Breakfast sandwiches on bagel or croissant, pastries, toasts, and granola bowls adorn the menu. Lunch includes sandwiches, organic brick-oven pizza with gluten-free options, salads, and a kid’s menu as well.
What I Ordered
I ordered the Turkey Avocado Sandwich on Sourdough and so glad I did. Smeared with an avocado spread, then layered with slices of turkey, cheese, tomato, bacon, greens, and pesto mayo, every bite was moist and full of flavor. The produce was fresh, as was everything.
Love this Flat Rock location! It reminds me of childhood and heading to the General Store on the corner; it’s in an older wood clappered building with wood floors and good neighborly feels. A lovely tiered and tree-covered deck greets you at the back door where many tables are available for dining.
