What’s Clean
Most of the produce at Silantra Asian Street Kitchen is organic and locally sourced when available. The tofu is non-GMO, the brown rice is organic, but the white rice is not. Menu items are Gluten-Free unless noted. The scallion pancakes are scratch-made as are the sauces. We did visit during Covid and although the menu and website indicate 100% Grass-Fed beef, they recently changed to grain-finished beef that is only Halal. We were unable to determine if this is a temporary scenario due to Covid issues or a permanent change, ask for more specifics. The chicken is antibiotic & hormone-free but fed GMO feed.
What’s Served
Asian Street Food in the form of Bings (Scallion Pancakes), Bowls, and Salads. You choose the sauce, as many produce toppings as you’d like, rice or greens, and a protein.
What I Ordered
I ordered one heck of an amazing Bing, wow! My produce choices were scallions, shallots, carrots, spring mix, onions, & cilantro. The coconut white rice was moist and flavorful while the house teriyaki garlic sauce stole the show; an absolutely outstanding sauce. The scallion pancake was moist and delish, however, I would have preferred it to be cooked a little more. Some browned edges would have been nice. But I’m being super picky here, overall the Bing was worthy of drools and moans.
The Vibe
The dining area was closed due to Covid, but the space looked friendly, bright, and airy with long family-style tables. The nostalgic brick building is located on a street corner in downtown Lancaster.
The Takeaway
Silantra Asian Street Kitchen serves up some fantastic tasting food made with clean produce and a few other organic and non-GMO ingredients. Love the “build your own” theme and the fact that the scallion pancakes are made to order. The shouse auces are out of this world and I’m still salivating over that Bing!
