What’s Clean
At Myriam’s Table Cafe, local sourcing from small farms is a priority. Most of the produce is organic and local as well. Except for the bread, just about everything is scratch-made including the mozzarella and burrata cheeses, dressings, and sauces.
What’s Offered
Myriam’s Table Cafe serves breakfast and lunch with a night or two of dinners, typically on Friday and Saturdays. The menu is ever-changing, but at the time of our visit, the menu was scaled down due to Covid. A sampling of breakfast foods includes biscuit sandwiches, smoked salmon, and avocado toast. Sandwiches, soups, and salads make up the lunch offerings with Italian foods and pizzas offered for dinner.
What I Ordered
I dined at Myriam’s on two occasions and on my first visit I ordered the Beet & Bean Salad on local clean greens. The fresh and tender pole beans along with the diced purple beets were the stars of the salad, but the show stopper was the delicate scratch-made balsamic dressing that popped with flavor without the oily heaviness. On my next visit, the Chicken Gyro was speaking to me from afar, and I succumbed. Packed with spinach, feta, tomato, and chicken, two hands were certainly needed here. Overall, I did find the gyro a bit on the dry side, and the same goes for the chicken pieces. However, the side of house-made pickles, OH MY! Fantastic thinly sliced pickles in a juice good enough to drink all by its lonesome.
The Vibe
Located in the historic Thistledown Building in the downtown area of Ligonier PA, Myriam’s Table Cafe boasts a dining area with lots of windows and natural lighting as well as an outside patio. I did visit during Covid and dining was restricted to the patio area on the front porch, which was quite lovely. Circumstances might be different post-Covid, but honestly, the building is lovely and one of the best spots around.
The Takeaway
Myriam’s Cafe boasts one of the most charming venues in the Ligonier area. Much of the ingredients are from local small farms utilizing clean growing methods. Scratch-made wholesome goodness is what you’ll experience at Myriam’s. Can’t wait to return to try that Friday night pizza!
