What’s Clean
Just about every ingredient at Cafe Santosha is locally sourced and either certified organic, organically grown, or naturally/organically raised. The produce is organic, fresh and locally sourced when in season. The salmon used in the open-faced smoked salmon plate is wild-caught. Even the breads are organic and most choices are sprouted as well. The chicken and turkey are organically raised at a local farm and the meat is freshly cut each day from roasted or smoked turkey and chicken breasts. The sauces are scratch-made in house and anything on the menu can be made as a vegan version.
What’s Served
You’ll find a nice selection of soups, salads, wraps, and sandwiches along with seasonal specials such as rice & bean cakes. Served all day, the breakfast menu consists of three bowl options of yogurt & granola, oatmeal, or an Indian themed egg, or tofu bowl. Any dish offered on the menu can be made vegan.
What I Ordered
I ordered the Santosha Sandwich, and wow, what a great choice. The bread was soft while the turkey was moist and tender. Fresh organic veggies were piled high that included shredded carrots, purple cabbage, red onion, and cucumber slices. Large yellow tomato slices and sprouts with velvety slices of avocado provided for a medley of textures. Lest not forget the amazing house-made secret sauce that added the perfect finishing touches to an outstanding two-fisted sandwich.
The Vibe
Cafe Santosha is a small cafe located in the back of Healthy Alternatives, which is a small grocer and health food store offering an abundance of clean and organic foods. Order at the counter then pay at the grocer cashier. Table seating is available inside as well as outdoors.
The Takeaway
I was blown away with the high-quality clean ingredients and gourmet quality delicious eats. Cafe Santosha is a “must stop here now” kind of place serving outstanding sandwiches and more at very reasonable prices. The cafe is only open until 2:30 M-F. Stop by for a glorious lunch at the best clean eating establishment around!
