What’s Clean
The beef at Bettelli’s Villa is local and 100% grass-fed. The pork and chicken are local, pasture-raised, and supplemented with non-GMO feed and grains. Most of the produce is organically grown and local. Just about everything is scratch-made including the pizza dough, pastas, tomato sauce, bread, and desserts. Unfortunately, the flours used are not organic…yet, see the takeaway at the bottom of this review. They do offer some gluten-free options.
What’s Served
Bettelli’s Villa is best known for its amazing thin-crust square pizzas, however, there’s so much more than pizza here. The menu offers appetizers, salads, housemade pasta dishes, traditional Italian entrees, scratch-made desserts & bread.
What I Ordered
I ordered a white pizza with mushrooms, oh my, I totally get the local following. The crust was on the thin side with a crunchy bottom and soft center and outstanding flavor. The pizza had just the right amount of garlic and the fresh local mushrooms were good enough to pass as candy. It’s a one of a kind pizza in a league of its own, my words don’t do it justice. I also ordered a side salad and…my willpower failed me, a house-made rice pudding. The salad greens were super fresh, along with the crunchy slices of cucumber and slivered red onions, but the house balsamic dressing was to die for, absolutely superb. The soft and delish bread is baked every morning and resembles a traditional Italian bread. Local chemical-free strawberries crowned the creamy and simply divine rice pudding, wow!
The Vibe
Don’t let the lack of curb appeal deter you from enjoying a fab meal at Bettelli’s Villa. A recent renovation was just completed, and everything from the floor to ceiling has been upgraded on the right side of the restaurant, the left side is next. The old section is outdated and stuck in the ’70s with dark wood and lots of red velvet. The newly renovated section is light and bright with some natural lighting, simple & clean decor, and an Italian and somewhat romantic undertone.
The Takeaway
Bettelli’s Villa is a 4th generation family operated restaurant that has recently handed the reins to their daughter Jessica who is a clean eating fanatic. She is well on her way to becoming certified as an Integrative Health Coach. Although the majority of ingredients are not organic at Bettelli’s Villa, the tides are turning and you will see more and more clean ingredients being added as time goes on. Scratch-made delicious Italian foods made with local clean produce and meats, and the most unique and best-tasting pizza I’ve had in quite a while.
