What’s Clean
At Herban Market, the beef is 100% grass-fed and the chicken is organic. The produce is always certified organic or organically grown, and sourced locally when available. The in house bakery makes all of the baked goods and is gluten-free. Just about everything is made in house, except for the nut milks which are not organic nor made in house. Vegan and gluten-free options are plentiful and local sourcing of all ingredients is a priority. The soups are always dairy-free, GF, and soy-free. In addition, an impressive stash of organic and biodynamic wines are available.
What’s Served
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily. Where, oh where do I begin? The breakfast menu offers breakfast burritos, tacos, and pizza as well as toasts and an egg sandwich. The day menu offers wraps, sandwiches, pizza, burgers, tacos, tartines and toasts, salads, along with with the build a bowl or omelet option. Speaking of building your own, from 10 am until closing, build your own pizzas, Asian bowls, wraps, and salads are offered. Herban Market serves 6 smoothie varieties, kombucha, wellness shots, and 8 juice choices that are made to order but are not cold-pressed. You’ll find a coffee bar serving coffee and espressos every which way, as well as teas. Wine and beer are also served.
What I Ordered
During my first visit, I chose the Classic Burger and a Messy Burger, both 100% grass-fed and served on house-made sourdough buns. The rather large burgers arrived smothered in house-made condiments and were indeed messy, but soooo darn good. The crispy skin on the seasonal side of roasted potatoes was sprinkled with chunks of salt, oh my, so tender and divine. On the next visit, I ordered the Al Pastor Tacos, and a Strength Smoothie. House-made organic corn tortillas wrapped the tender marinated pork and flavorful house salsas with a hint of heat, all 3 were devoured in a blink. The smoothie was rich and creamy; high-quality goodness in a cup. Although I didn’t sample the house vegan burger, I did see one up close and personal. The shape, color, and texture closely resembled a beef burger…word on the street is that it’s fantastic.
The Vibe
Along the left side of the market is the more formal dining area with a full wait staff. If full service is not desired, no worries, anything on the menu can be ordered at the counter to-go or grab a seat at the bar or one of the many tables inside or outdoors. The restaurant shares the space with its small market.
The Takeaway
Just wow! Herban Market is one of the best finds of the year. Amazing scratch-made, local, clean, organic, Gluten-Free real food! It really doesn’t get much better than this, even the friendly and pleasant staff were amazing. Thank you Matt & Ashlea for caring about makin’ it clean, and delish too! Herban Market is a clean eater’s paradise, and a must stop when anywhere near Franklin TN. It should be noted that food service is suspended between the hours of 3-4 pm daily.
