What’s Clean
The menu changes nightly. For the most part, the seafood is wild-caught, the poultry is clean and the produce is predominantly local and organically grown. On the night of my review, the beef was not 100% grass-fed.
What’s Served
Wink serves American fare which is locally and seasonally driven. Several seafood dishes, as well as beef, venison, quail and duck, are typically offered each evening. Wink is known for its 5 and 7 course tasting menus. Half-priced bar food is served from 5-7pm daily.
What I Ordered
I ordered the Mixed Green Salad with green beans, carrots, fennel, and honey vinaigrette. The greens in the salad were crisp and fresh while the dressing was light and bursting with flavor. Overall, the salad was outstanding.
The Vibe
The main restaurant with its Wine Bar across the sidewalk are both tucked away in an unlikely spot off of Lamar. The atmosphere is intimate as well as the music; think Frank Sinatra. The wine bar is dimly lit with a cozy setting. Both the restaurant and wine bar make great venues for a romantic date. It’s first come first serve at the wine bar, while reservations are recommended for the main restaurant.
The Takeaway
Wink is a lovely place serving wonderful food created with local and mostly clean ingredients. As always, ask for more specifics before ordering. Wink is a nice spot for a special occasion…or date.
