What’s Clean
At Revolution Kitchen just about everything is scratch-made including the Tofu, Seitan, Sauces, Desserts, and even the Sangria. Local sourcing is a huge priority and many ingredients are organic.
What’s Served
Open for dinner only, the menu offers vegetarian food with Thai, Cuban, Mexican, and Vietnamese inspirations to name a few. The menu changes often based on the availability of ingredients. A sampling of entrees include salads, soups, sandwiches, fajitas, ravioli, and more. You’ll also find amazing house-made desserts and sangria, as well as a few draft beer varieties, wine, and cider.
What I Ordered
I ordered the Laska Noodle Pot which is a Vegan & Gluten-Free dish, as well as the Peach Shortcake for dessert. Both rendered me speechless, absolutely amazing! Let’s start with the Laska, the spicey soup had a velvety coconut-based broth with fresh veggies, al dente rice noodles, and house-made tofu. Without a doubt, the tofu was the best to ever cross my palate, so light and fluffy with a texture similar to a pillowy quiche. Garnished with bean sprouts, lime, and edible flowers, there’s not a single anything that needs improvement here…a lively explosion of flavor with every spoonful. The Peach Shortcake arrived topped with house coconut whipped cream, drizzled with a house-caramel type sauce, and sprinkled with coconut flakes. Tender slices of marinated peaches were woven throughout while the soft and delish shortcake base was off the charts delish.
The Vibe
Revolution Kitchen is located in an older wooden clapboard building that hugs the sidewalk on a side street in downtown Burlington. The kitchen is open-air and although the restaurant is on the smaller side, plenty of tables are provided in the dining area with a few stools available at the bar. With soothing music playing in the background, the restaurant is dimly lit with simple furnishings and interesting artwork evoking positive vibes throughout.
The Takeaway
Revolution Kitchen is best known for its amazing scratch-made desserts, however, I feel that both the food and dessert are of equal high-caliber vegetarian gourmet status. Off the charts amazing tasting clean food served in an aged New England wooden building with character. Locally sourced yum!
