What’s Clean
The Restaurant at Shelburne Farms Inn sources the majority of its ingredients locally from farms that practice clean and organic growing methods. Meats and poultry are sourced from local farms where the animals are raised humanely on pasture. Some of the ingredients are grown or raised on their own farm located on-site such as produce, eggs, and some meats. Aside from some of the baked goods, much of the food served is made from scratch.
What’s Served
Brunch at The Restaurant at Shelburne Farms Inn offers your typical breakfast fare such as egg dishes and pancakes while the dinner menu boasts traditional American fare such as steak, fish, and pasta.
What I Ordered
I arrived for Brunch and ordered a traditional breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. The scrambled eggs were deep yellow in color with a light and airy texture. The bacon was nicely done with a minimal crisp and the potatoes were lovely but nothing to write home about. The freshness of the ingredients was evident and although I usually force myself to stay away from breads and pastries, the house jams and butter were simply unforgettable…which invoked me to order yet another order of toast 🙂
The Vibe
The restaurant is located inside the grand and glorious Shelburne Farms Inn. The 19th century Inn is perched along the shores of Lake Champlain, where you’ll experience spectacular views and colorful gardens. Dining on the patio when weather permits is not to be missed. Clean Foodie has named the restaurant “Best View/Setting” in the Burlington Area. The traditional setting amongst 1,400 acres will not disappoint.
The Takeaway
Clean Foodie feels The Restaurant at Shelburne Farms Inn is a “must” experience while in northern VT. We also highly recommend a tour of the working farm that operates as a petting zoo complete with tours of their cheese-making facility. Unfortunately, the Inn and Restaurant are only open from May through October, please call for hours of operation and reservations are highly recommended.
